13-15" is a collar style chain that fits tightly around the neck

15-17"  is a choker style chain that sits at the base of the neck

17-19" is a princess style chain that sits along the collarbone

20-24" is a matinee style chain that lays between the collarbone and the bust

28-37" is a opera style chain that lays from the top of the bust to a few inches below

37-60" is a rope or lariat style chain that can lay from the bust to the stomach

Men:

17-19" would sit at the base of the neck

19-21" would sit along the collarbone

21-23" would sit below the collarbone

23-25" would lay on the chest
